Summary
Apologizing for the quality of the game he is sending her; saying '...but this truly Russian winter has so completely put a stop to all field sports that it has really not been in my power & I must now make my excuses for sending so shabby an one; but you will accept the will for the deed & my assurances how much pleasure it would have given me, had it better corresponded with my intention. Tho' the communication with London has not been so materially stopped on this road as on others, the party I expected for the close of the season was reduced to Lord & Lady Uxbridge who were five days in coming from Beaudesert. There is now a partial change of weather, but the whole Country from returning frosts at night is a sheet of ice. I hope you have not suffered from the severity of the season & that your séjour at Brighton has been as pleasant & agreable to yourself as your House must always make it to others."
