Relating a severe attack of gout in his ankle, which he first thought was a "...slight sprain that I had got the day before at Newmarket;" adding that the pain was so severe that he had to send for the doctor;" concluding "This is my first attack and I hope will be the last for I am [illegible] that it is very far from pleasant."
