Notes
The addressee is identified at the foot of the letter as "M. Le Baron Louis, Ministre et Secrètaire d'Etat des Finances." This is most likely Joseph-Dominique, baron Louis, who served as minister of finance in the government of the first Bourbon restoration.
There are additional notes in various unknown hands on the letter.
Removed in 1988 from an extra-illustrated copy of R.H. Horne, The history of Napoleon (London: R. Tyas, 1840-1846); PML 196675-196680. Letters removed from the volumes at this time were given the accession number MA 4587, but were never formally accessioned.
