Summary
Relating news of their activities in Baden and the people they have seen; saying "...who should come over the other day from Carlsruhe but the French Minister Count Charles de Morny and his Secretary of Legation & I was so amused at his appearance in so new a Character & hearing him talked of [as] le ministre de France, son Excellence &c - he enquired very tenderly after you & said that now Lou was married he hoped you w'd forgive him & allow him to say that no one in England had made the impression of being grande dame half as much as yourself and that should you extend your journey to Carlsruhe he begged to put himself and his house à votre disposition. I must say he was very amusing. He had never he said before talked to me of Lou as he said he knew I was opposed to him - the french society are rather jealous of his rapid promotion his being Minister while people of his age who have been in for years were nothing but Secretarys;" describing and making a drawing of the birthday gift they are giving her; adding that they are looking forward to August and September with her in Aix la Chapelle and how happy she is that Doctor Jones will be with her "...for though I think he lets you do too much what you like I think he is the only person who really knows your constitution."
