Summary
He doesn't understand why Rosenberg is asking him whatever he asking, because if Rosenberg doesn't want to make payments to de Staël's wife, Rosenberg's daughter can telephone him in France at any moment. He goes on to say that if Rosenberg is happy with the exhibition, it's because de Staël was able to work in the south of France and in Sicily. De Staël says that Avignon isn't Peru [meaning it's not far from Paris]. It's only 6 hours by train, and it's no problem for de Staël to go up to Paris for a few hours. What de Staël doesn't want is to have to remain a week or two far from the light of the south of France while Rosenberg and Micheline take their time settling his account at their convenience. He says that he called Micheline that morning and that she will call him back as soon as Rosenberg and she have arranged this whole problem. He asks Rosenberg not to forget to send him some photos, which he really wants, especially good ones of the nudes, of the big still life, and of the landscapes--in fact, of everything. He hopes that Rosenberg understands that he worked very hard for the success of the exhibition. He has received the catalog and is more or less happy with it. Maybe the margins are too wide. He's eager for precise information from Rosenberg [about the exhibition].
