Summary
Saying he is happy to know that Seymour (Mrs. Damer's third child, Lionel Seymour William Dawson-Damer, 1832-1892) "...has no bad effects from his accident and that you have had so little cause, since the first fright, for alarm. Lord Egremont has not gained ground since I last wrote...He was bled this morning and I hope before I close this, I shall be able to add that it has been with good effect - He was very low yesterday & talking made him cough very much - 1837 is not yet over - but, alas! at his age a figure, 7, 8 or 9 - must mark every change - We are here a dull Family Party & as there is no news anywhere, I cannot give you an amusing letter - for spirits, I have none...I shall put off going to Brighton till Lord E. is better - & hope tomorrow, after a good night he will be quite safe;" asking if he can do anything for her in London ahead of her arrival -"...if all goes on well here, but at Lord E's age & having seen in both cases, at Brighton, how soon the frame gives way & how suddenly, in old People - I am not without anxiety. I am told there are great demands for Houses in London & have had an offer for mine, which I declined...I may say that Lord Egremont is no worse - perhaps better - the heat of skin diminished - but Tierney who was sent for is not yet come."
