Summary
Concerning the failing health of Lord Egremont; saying "We have been very anxious all day about Lord E. - as he showed great weakness last night and caused [illegible] great alarm - Though he has been worse & weaker, during his former Illness - still he was not, thus, so Old and that is on the scale against him - But I fear for the worst, tho I by no means give up hope - You shall hear from me at the last moment;" relating social news; continuing "9 o clock / I can only tell you that we are still more alarmed than in the morning & must [illegible] for the worst - if a favorable change does not take place in the next few hours;" continuing on the address leaf but it is unclear if this continuation belongs with this letter though a penciled notation at the top of the page dates it to August 21, 1827 and assigned it to this letter in the inventory; asking about her brother George and relating news of mutual friends.
