Summary
Reporting that she is still at Brighton due to a severe attack of dysentary which has prevented her from going to Clarenden; saying she has not told anyone "...respecting what you told me about yourself" but that someone called on her who seemed to know "...all particulars & that yr. situation being always very sick you were obliged to put in an open carriage... - she asked me about it & my answer was that I suppos'd it was an old story reviv'd & w'd not acknowledge what you wrote to me on the Subject...What horrible work is going on in London - it is not as yet quite ascertain'd if the fire was accidental or incendiary - I hope the former otherwise we are not safe in our Houses...I am sadly worried at being kept here as my House wants cleaning very much before I can take up my Winter Quarters - besides which the Radicals here have got such power that the whole Town is quite alter'd - it puts me in mind very much of the state of things at Brussels - nothing can be more disagreeable;" the remaining portion of page 3 has been cut away; the final paragraph remains at the top of page 4.
