Summary
Thanking him for his letter and complaining of the weather in London since her return ten days earlier; saying "I have suffer'd so much from Climate since I came here ten days ago that it has made me quite ill - the constant damp & fog annoys me beyond any thing - it is quite impossible to see even the Park wall out of my window and I am quite suffocated - tomorrow I take my departure & heartily glad shall I be to turn my back upon this odious Town;" saying she is going to Brighton and from there continuing on to visit friends; commenting on politics saying "London is empty - the few I have seen are all in a fright at the state of affairs - I dont wonder at it for I fear this Country is in a sad state - The King came to Town two days after my arrival & sent to me to go to him but it so happen'd I had neither Carriage or Horses - Lord Albemarle was order'd to send one of this Majesty's Carriages & of course I went - Nothing could equal his kind & I must say affectionate reception of me and after I had pass'd some time with him he said I have had something made for you but I want'd not [to] send it to you whilst you remain'd on the Continent & he produc'd a pair of very Handsome Diamond Bracelets - the value was nothing to me but the kind manner that accompanied it was very flattering - I have shewn them to every body as the first & only present he ever made me;" relating news of the family and of social news of friends.
