Explaining that she has arrived at Calais but because it is a Sunday she cannot go through Customs and will likely have to wait until Wednesday to cross; relating news of the people she has seen; saying she stayed a few extra days in Brussels as "...it is a delightful place if one could send all the abominable English residents there away - there never was any thing so scandalous as they all are but I will not repeat half what is going on - I am sorry yr. friends the Seymours are not exempt - they have been very much blam'd respecting their conduct - the eldest girl is gone to England - there is much scandal about her & Lord William Paget who is also obliged to leave the place on account of debts - his wife is taken much notice of by the family & is now with the Duchess of Argyle & is to go to Windsor to Lady Conyngham afterwards - dont mention my telling you about Miss Seymour tho' there is not much secrecy on the Subject but I dont wish it to come from me;" relating more news of people she has seen and adding "I am sick at the thoughts of my Sea Voyage - I wish it was over."
