Summary
Thanking her for her letter which came in a packet from Munster; saying "...we are in such a State in this Country that those that are able to get out of it will do so, this Town is more disaffected than any other place & the day before yesterday there was a large meeting here to Compliment [illegible] upon his Speech & the Political Clubs hence voted by a great majority that the best & only government for this Country is a Republic - for what purpose I know not...I never left this place with so little regret God knows if ever I shall return to it - If I was not so old & Infirm I should quit this Country for ever - I cannot bear to see it & every body so disgraced - I don't believe Lord Grey will give up - at least if the opposition continue to support him which they are very anxious to do, & if we are all to be ruin'd let those that affected it bear the odium - I am quite in the dismals but so is every one else - forgive my boring you - I hope when I get to Town to be able to send you better information. The K. as usual giving great dinners, Balls &c the poor Q. has had a severe attack of Influenza but is getting better."
