Summary
Apologizing for the long delay in answering his letter saying "...I feel my life is so retired & quiet in this place - scarcely a Creature I know, that sending you a stupid epistle would only bore you which added to my dismal lazyness about writing...I see by the papers Mr. K. Erskine is dead - do you think you have any chance of getting his place - If your Friends the ministers get the better of having only one Majority & remain in their places I think after all the offers they made to you they will behave very ill if they dont give you something worth yr. acceptance. If you see George FitzClarence pray tell him I have got his letter & that I am very happy that his father & he are upon such good terms & sincerely hope they will always continue to remain so."
