Summary
Relating news of the Smythes return from their travels, the baby's teething and assuring Minney that every care of the baby will be taken on their trip to Brighton; wishing Minney a happy birthday and saying "You talk of old age think then what I am - I assure you I should be very sorry to have my youthful days to pass over again, it is a great consolation at my advanc'd age to see those I love the most (my two children, yourself & Mary) both well & happy & to receive from them both kindness & affection & to end my days in peace & quietness. I find I am getting very odious & tiresome to you & shall get into compleat dismals if I conti[nue] - I therefore shall say no more upon this Subject;" ; reluctantly agreeing to write to Lord Grey on her behalf; adding "...you will be surprised to hear I have actually bought Lady de Clifford's House. I have not made up my mind what I shall do with it."
