Summary
Expressing her happiness at knowing she is safely at Havre; suggesting what she should give her servants for their expenses while she is travelling; saying "With respect to the travelling expenses of your Servants I think you had better settle that which suits you I never gave more than five Francs a day whilst travelling & when I stopp'd at any place I made arrangements as best suited the place & Country I was in [illegible] must have confus'd the French & English money - Tho' in England I allow five shillings pr day but that is very different when you are scarce ever more than one or two days upon the road to what it is when you travel for weeks & months in my opinion I think less than five Francs would be different but you had better consult those that are more us'd to travelling on the Continent than I have been - I have been here about a week I really think I should have died had I staid longer at Buxton it was with some difficulty I performed the Journey here the change of air & place has done me a great deal of good & I feel I gain Health & Strength daily;" relating news of the death of Mrs. Long-Wellesley and adding "There are sad reports of L'd Radstock I fear his family are left quite destitute a favorite Female I understand is suppos'd to be in some respects the cause of it;" saying they are all enjoying family time and she must not expect to hear "...any news or chat of what is going on in the great world;" adding, in a postscript, news that Lord Clare was to marry Miss Burrell "...but I cannot say I believe it...I find Miss Burrell is hesitating respecting her acceptance of L'd Clare, there is more truth in it than I imagin'd."
