Summary
Discussing their parting from one another; saying "I will not revert to my parting with you the various distresses that occupied my mind & the Idea of a Separation from you affected me so much that I did not say half what I wanted to say to you but ran out of the house as fast as I could not to annoy you by my suffrings - I am glad Hampton Court was made agreeable to you. I am now anxious to hear you got safe to Cowes;" reminding her of a "...Sermon I preach'd to you respecting your Conduct with your Friends in that Island - I don't recollect having said you were likely to fall out of the carriage window but I very well remember saying you were very giddy & careless & that I was always upon the watch to take care of you...I found a long scolding letter waiting for me here from the Duke of York quite affronted at my not having written to him he enquires very kindly after you & desires me to tell him all about yr affairs - he says he supposes I am so occupied that I have forgot he is in existence I think I could return him the Compliment, I shall write to him tomorrow & make my peace."
