Explaining that she has had to delay her arrival in London due to continuing pain from the gout; saying "I have been under the necessity of taking the colichine [sic] for the two last nights & to day I am almost free from pain w'ch is a great happiness to me but I am not able to put on a shoe or walk across my Room w'ch will prevent my being with you tomorrow w'ch I had fully intended The first day I am able to make use of my Limbs they shall convey me into my Carriage but at present I feel I shall scarcely be able to join you in Tilney St till towards the end of the week...poor Marianne is really disappointed at not being in Town for her Birthday - tho I cannot conceive any difference it can properly make to her - she has inform'd me she has written to you to day she shall not keep her birthday Day till Monday what is to be done then I cannot guess."
