Summary
Giving credit to Blackwood for undertaking the series on Philosophers "...which, philosophically valuable as it should be, may not be so remunerative as his more literary projects of the same kind have been;" suggesting possible authors for the essay on Butler; adding "It will be a great thing if you are able to start with an announcement of 12 well chosen subjects & writers, & may have in the end a great effect on our British Philosophy. The more I think of it the greater seem to me its possibilities - & if rightly gone about it must, in the end, succeed financially too. I am turning over Berkeley & hope to make some progress before I see & converse with you on that & other subjects next month."
