Summary
Writing to her publisher regarding their agreement to pay for the carriage of the proofs of her book (i.e., Continental adventures), outlining the costs of sending the parcels of sheets to and from the printers, explaining that "Postage wd. have been a lighter expense, if the sheets cd. have come singly, but I cd. not correct them without the copy", and that time would have been lost as "we have no mail from here to Leeds direct"; informing them that Mr Eaton has decided "to sell 'Rome' by commission" and that she will attempt to dispose of the copyright when the edition is sold, as "nobody wd. buy it now, when perhaps no further editions may ever be called for"; noting that she will be glad when Hurst Robinson & Co. have settled their affairs (the firm suffered bankruptcy in the financial crash of January 1826), and assuring them that they will have the first offer of anything she may propose to publish in the future.
