Summary
Regretting he no longer has a copy of "The Child in the House;" saying "It would have given me peculiar pleasure that it should have passed into your hands. It is just possible that Messrs Mathews & Lane - Bodley Head Vigo St may have a few copies still on hand. Should you fail with them, and should I print another small impression (this one was of 250 copies) in memory of our lost friend - as if I can find time - I shall be tempted to do, I will take care to let you know of it. In that case I would communicate with you through Mr. Bell. I need hardly say that Mr. Michael Field stood in no need of reference or introduction, accomplished long since by a charming volume lying on my table."
