Summary
She has received a letter from the occupant of the rue Savorgnan-de-Brazza promising to leave by March 15. The letter was sent to her lawyer, Maurice Garçon, who forwarded it to her. She feels hopeful, but she'll believe it when she's actually back in the apartment. The Count [Etienne de Beaumont] has sold his apartment in the rue Masseran to the Swiss Rothschilds. She thinks the building has been declared a historic monument. Gawkers are already coming to look at the courtyard. She's glad to be moving, because a small house for two single women isn't practical. She prefers an apartment even with its drawbacks. Saying that Micheline [Rosenberg's daughter] is the executrix of his will, and since there will be only personal things left, Micheline and Alexandre will share them. They're not big things, mostly made in Spain, and she doesn't want them sold for any reason. She says the Rosenberg has played a more important role in her life than he realizes by recognizing her as a painter among his "devouring lions." She and Suzanne are going to the doctor about her (Laurencin's) esophagus. She says that Monsieur Amante [her doctor] is very nice. She's working with him slowly but surely.
