Summary: 

Sending news of his visit to France; saying "After being down here I found that there was not enough garlic in Paris. I tasted the soupe aux poissons of Marseille, though not the bouillebaisse (which I don't like anyway, too many bones) but nothing to equal Marion's Nassau Chowder. Acquired an honorary degree from Aix and a sore throat, but nothing malignant."
