Summary
Commenting on a water colour that Kauffer sent him; saying "I found the water colour on my arrival at Russell Square, and have now had three days to contemplate it, so that I can say that I liked it very much, and find it become more substantial and satisfactory each day. It's a very good thing in itself, which I should be most happy to have acquired; and I take a further pride in remembering that it was presented by the artist; and a gratification, beyond that even, in cherishing the friendship of the artist and the motives of friendship which impelled him to make this fine and generous gift. That is not only a satisfaction in the past, but an encouragement for the future. I shall try to see you and Marion again before I leave, and shall telephone you."
