Eliot does not date the letter however the published letter cited below dates it to "end September 1930."
Written from "68 Clarence Gate Gardens, / N.W.1" on personal stationery engraved with the address "177, Clarence Gate Gardens, N.W.1." Eliot has crossed through "177" and written "68" above it.
Concerning a drawing Kauffer gave him; saying "I am delighted to have the beautiful drawing, with the inscription, and shall have it framed to match the other (Simeon) which I appropriated. I had not seen the original when in de la Mare's hands and was surprised by the differences. I must say that I like the colouring of the drawing you have given me very much better than that of the printed 'Marina'. I wish that the poem had been printed according to this one. Until Marion called the other night we knew nothing of your illness. I do hope you are getting on : let me know when you would care to have me come to see you;" adding, in a postscript, The Hutchinson's showed us your Don Quixote which we much admired. I should not have thought anything possible after Doré, but you have done it."
