Summary
Concerning his last visit to New York in September 1936 and commenting on Morris' two sons; saying "This is just to let you know that I am getting around to answering your kind letter of December 31st, 1935, and that maybe some day I will. But what does one do, the world being what it is? If it isnt one thing it's another, and next week I have to go to Edinburgh on business; and I don't often get to New York (in fact I havent been there since 1933, except that in September 1936 I was in the Grand Central Station for two hours, waiting for a train back to Boston, having come from Princeton, N.J., from 10 to 12 pm., and what can you do in New York with just that about of time to spare except eat oysters and wash them down with Irish whiskey which I did?). At any rate I want to acknowledge your photographs of Howard age 12 and Lewis age 9 (that's a good name, Lewis, there was a poet of that name once, Lewis Morris, but I never read his works, and I think somebody of that name discovered Oregon, which is probably a cousin of yours) and I calculate that they are now 14 and 11 or so. Well well. Have you put on any weight in the last few years? I hope so. I am just as lean as ever, because what has gone on the waist has come off the chest. Anyway heres your health. So will close ever yours / T.S.E."
