Provenance
The letters formed part of the Burdett-Coutts sale (Sotheby, 17 May 1922); they were purchased for Oliver W. Barrett in whose collection they remained until it was sold by his son (Parke-Bernet, 31 October 1951).
Summary
Sending Christmas greetings and enclosing "...the result of the interview between myself and the Sun. I am so anxious that you should like it if you can. It came home last night, and Mr. Stone has been prowling about it and hovering round it this morning with such intense satisfaction, that I suppose it must have something good in it. I don't pretend to such a knowledge of my own face, as I claim to have of other peoples' faces."
