Provenance
The letters formed part of the Burdett-Coutts sale (Sotheby, 17 May 1922); they were purchased for Oliver W. Barrett in whose collection they remained until it was sold by his son (Parke-Bernet, 31 October 1951).
Summary
Informing her that he hopes to "...have two girls from the Field Lane Ragged School. The most active female teacher there, has written a very proper letter of entreaty (which I think it proper that you should have, in such a case), and I have received it this evening. I have appointed to see her, and the girls, on Friday."
