Summary
Thanking him for his "most kind & encouraging letter" about his novel Trilby, and stating that he is glad to know that his novel will be reviewed "by so kindly a hand" as Noble's; remarking that he has heard of the Antijacobin, although he does little reading so as to save his failing eyesight for his drawings, and referring to Noble as "also a sufferer, tho' in another way", adding "But you are some ten years younger - If you make the most of the next ten years to come, they ought to be the best in your life - according to m̲y̲ experience, & in spite of physical disabilities."; saying that he will be returning to Hampstead from his daughter's home where he is currently staying, and hoping that they can meet "someday in a better place for a chat than a lecture hall".
