Provenance
The letters formed part of the Burdett-Coutts sale (Sotheby, 17 May 1922); they were purchased for Oliver W. Barrett in whose collection they remained until it was sold by his son (Parke-Bernet, 31 October 1951).
Summary
Offering to read her the final installment of Dombey the following Wednesday; saying "Mrs. Dickens would be greatly pleased if you and Mr. and Mrs. Brown could dine with us on that day at half past six. We would not ask anybody else, except perhaps the Kay-Shuttleworths. And we would see the end of our (of course immortal) acquaintances, after dinner."
