Summary
Writing to Hugo while he sleeps, reflecting that their life together is like that of a night watchman and his wife, noting that Hugo evidently let the dog out and that it was impossible to get him to return home yesterday evening, and complaining that Hugo and Suzanne have given the dog possession of her garden during the night; noting that now that he no longer has a sitting in Parliament and only attends meetings at the Academy on Thursdays, she is a prisoner for six days a week, something she would not mind were he (as her "jailor") more determined to keep her in sight, and complaining that he has too little fear of her escaping, a fact which enrages her.
