The letters formed part of the Burdett-Coutts sale (Sotheby, 17 May 1922); they were purchased for Oliver W. Barrett in whose collection they remained until it was sold by his son (Parke-Bernet, 31 October 1951).
Summary
Informing her that John Hullah will not begin teaching singing at Urania Cottage until the following Wednesday; saying "I am not sure whether he begins himself - I think not - but I will ascertain from him when he proposes to come in person, and will let you know. On the same day, please God, I shall attend also, as I am much interested in understanding the system."
