The letters formed part of the Burdett-Coutts sale (Sotheby, 17 May 1922); they were purchased for Oliver W. Barrett in whose collection they remained until it was sold by his son (Parke-Bernet, 31 October 1951).

Enclosing a letter from Charley's schoolmaster, relating details of his visit to Charley, and asking whether she had heard from Macready "...on the subject of that General Theatrical Fund for which you so kindly sent me Ten Pounds?;" referring to people she has been speaking with in preparation for her institution for women.
