Summary
Concerning a visit to the home of Mr. Macdonald to consult with him on the restoration of some paintings, including a "picture of Van dike"; stating that he have Macdonald an estimate of from 20 to 30 guineas for the work, and mentioning "the four Marlows", which he describes as "clever pictures - a Mary Queen of Scott's & a little picture he calls Fenian"; explaining that he offered to show him some pictures in the process of restoration and that "he said he would call in two or three days", and that, should Mr. Carpenter call on him before Monday, he will have an opportunity "of showing you the Wilsons & some of the pictures, in a progressive state."
