Summary
Concerning Ainger's reluctance to agree to appear as a speaker at an annual occasion in Bristol; stating that the reasons given in a previous letter to Mr. Hobhouse still "weigh as strongly" with him as ever, repeating his opinion that it would be preferable to get someone "from the outside (non-Bristol) world" for the event, and protesting that he is at a loss for a subject for a speech, concluding "I hate to seem disobliging-but I also hate to maunder on about things in general; & I also hate to be continually posing before the people of Bristol.".
