Summary
The customs formalities for the return of his works [from the US] seem to be in order. However, there is an issue with paying for their return. It was originally agreed by Braque, Rosenberg, and San Francisco that San Francisco would pay for their return, as the exhibitor. Now that Rosenberg has had the paintings delivered to him, San Francisco is reneging on the arrangement. Braque tells Rosenberg to remind San Francisco what had been agreed upon, since he is not prepared to pay for their return, the cost of which he knows will be high. Braque also asks if Rosenberg has found the painting that he showed him a photo of. Braque wants to sell Rosenberg one or two paintings of his choice now in his [Rosenberg's] possession for which one would be in exchange for a painting sold to the Musee [d'Art moderne] de Paris. Braque wonders about the prices of his works. During their conversation in Paris, Rosenberg told him that the prices in Paris seemed to be too high and that he wanted lower prices. Braque asks him to choose the paintings he wants, and they'll discuss the price afterward. (in postscript) He asks Rosenberg, since his paintings are going to two different recipients, to speed up sending the ones on display to him and to keep the rest until Rosenberg proposes a price and hears back from Braque.
