Addressed to "Dear Mrs. Phillips"; probably the poet Susan K. Phillips, wife of the portrait painter Henry Wyndham Phillips, an associate of Richard Doyle's, who maintained a residence at Church Meadow in Sydenham during this time period.
The daughter of Henry Wyndham and Susan K. Phillips, Mary Albinia Phillips, was born in 1857.
