Declining to provide a cartoon (for Punch) on the "Morpeth subject" (probably a reference to George William Frederick Howard, Viscount Morpeth and Earl of Carlisle), citing "private reasons"; agreeing to create an initial and stating that "if Mr. Swain will send at nine in the morning a cut will be ready 'A contrast between the Member for Bucks as was (John Hampden), and the member as is to be (Mr. D'Israeli).'"
