Summary
Advising a woman on a relationship; thanking, an unidentified woman, for the "bottle of elixir" which he has not had to use as he has "...not been troubled with my distemper since the last fit. I am glad to understand that you got safe to York and hope that by this time you have overcome the passion that hath so long prevailed over you which I must again advise you as you tender your present or future happiness, to place where it ought to be even upon him who so infinitely deserves it, both for the transcendent excellences of his own nature, and for his constant super abundant love & kindness to you and who alone can fill and satisfy all your desires;" adding that he intends to go to Canterbury and "In the mean while I thought good to put you in mind of that which you know to be both your duty and interest : and to assure you that though I can never answer your expectations, I shall always be / your real friend."
