Summary
Explaining that the "critical state of affairs in this Country, and the weighty business with which Mr. Dundas has been constantly occupied, and I may almost say overwhelmed, has scarcely given me an opportunity of conversing with him on any points relating to India, and I have therefore from time to time deferred writing to you;" assuring Shore that Dundas has "a great respect for you personally" and approves of his government; adding that Dundas has read the "Bengal regulations," appreciates the necessity of enforcing a particular article, and intends to make a proposal regarding this at an upcoming session; saying that the conduct of some of the officers under Shore has been very concerning, "but from the last accounts I have no doubt that every thing has by this time been happily settled. It will not however be well judged to suffer some of the most mischievous spirits to remain amongst you;" adding that he is glad to hear good reports of the health of Shore and his wife; saying he has no good news to convey and will not "tire you with a repetition of the disastrous state of all Europe."
