Summary
Saying that Mr. Laird has transmitted Mr. Brace's resignation from a position in Lucknow and recommended his brother as Brace's successor; explaining that because he believes that a private deal has been struck, he has refused Brace's resignation; saying that he feels very indebted to Laird ("for his good and able services, and for his great attention to his duty in the course of the late war") and, should the opportunity arise, he would be much obliged if Shore found a job for Laird's brother.
