Summary
Expressing sympathy and concern over the "late afflicting accounts of your family" and the effect they might have on Shore; writing "I will not trouble you with consolatory reflexions which your own good sense will in due time suggest to you ; And I know from sad experience that there must be a season when grief will have it's day;" saying that he must write some business letters to Shore before leaving the post of Governor-General, "which will certainly take place on the 10th of next month," but since he agrees with Shore regarding filling various positions and other next steps, "there is nothing that presses at present."
