Summary
Thanking him for his note regarding her new novel, saying that she has written to Hurst assuring him that she is in no hurry over the book, but that she would like to see it published no later than the month of December, "as the book season would then be over in some of the large provincial towns."; expressing her opinion that "an author is no judge of his own productions", and stating that she is glad that he does not "think a Scottish subject necessary" for her next book, as she is "at present at least much more in the humour for an English one", adding "My next work will not I expect be ready for a long time as I write rather slowly & revise & correct over & over again, as the singularly clean & elegant state of my Mss. must serve to show"; saying that she would not like the printing of her present book to begin before she gets home by the end of the month, and that she will call on Hurst next week; asking him if he intends to publish a book during the current season and noting that she was unable to procure his last book at the Taunton Library.
