Summary
Saying that he has taken a few days to think over Knight's proposal and, though he would like to take it on, "I must ask myself what I can do not what I would and at present I am overdone with work;" adding "Otherwise the Poet whom almost more than other modern we find useful to us [probably a reference to Wordsworth, based on the letters that follow] deserves some public acknowledgment;" saying that if in the course of the summer he finds that he does have the time to write an essay, he will send the results to Knight, who can "accept it or reject it as you pleased."
