Summary
Concerning the completion of the portrait of Herbert Spencer; saying "At last, & after many delays, 'the Labourers work is o'er' & Spencer's portrait finished. And at Herhomer's invitation I am going down to Bushey on Saturday next - by the 2-40 from Euston to see it. Should you be in town then I should be very glad if you would join me in looking at it. You will be pleased to hear that Herkomer is very pleased with the result, so the portrait is probably a good one : it will subsequently be in the academy."
