Soliciting his subscription for the Spencer portrait; sending him, on the "orders of my superiors - the Spencer Portrait Comm'e...a sheet of the Times, & an addressed envelope, the function of which it is not difficult to imagine. The result is not quite what you wished, but still I hope it is as near as one could expect."
