Summary
Being a collection of autograph notes and autograph manuscript fragments and including a fragment of the draft of a letter written to Josiah Wedgwood on February 18, 1801 (MA 2033.11). A more complete version of this letter, in the British Library, was sent to Coleridge's friend, Thomas Poole. According to the Report to the Fellows of the Pierpont Morgan Library, 1960 which acknowledges the gift to the library by C. Waller Barrett of this collection, "This letter is important in that Coleridge recognizes the debt of John Locke to Descartes half a century before this view became generally accepted." Items in the collection are described individually in fourteen separate catalog records; see related records for more information.
