Thanking him for sending him some braces of game, as well as for his kindness to Donne's daughter, Valentia, who has been staying with the Keppel's as their guest since August 17th; recounting a recent experience on the railway between Kingston and Wandworth where heavy rain had washed out the embankment and threatened the passengers with drowning; commenting on the current rebellion in India and a recent piece published in Punch which makes complimentary references to himself while "unjustly" taking satirical aim at his "master", the Lord Chamberlain.
