Asking "Can a little girl from a poor mining town in Gaul ever find happiness with a Roman Emperor?"; saying that they need to drink a bottle or two of wine together; explaining that he needs to translate part of a Danilo Dolci poem, do a Spanish short story, then Huidobro translations, and that he is thinking of doing a small collection of 30 poems or so; describing how he just returned from a ten day trip to Canada looking for land on Prince Edward Island and asks if he wants to buy the land with him; stating that he got a bad review in The Western Humanities by John Vernon while Vernon praised Simic and Knott, otherwise he has gotten good reviews; adding that they will see each other in late August in Squaw Valley; concluding "Kathy Norris in the name of E. Krayfish has asked me to read at the Donnell Library with Chuck Hanzlicek, a poet who's work I like, but who can't stand me. Some fun."
