Asking if she ever wrote to him about receiving his books and materials; describing how she became ill at Christmas in her chest and was told to seek treatment immediately, which caused her to pack hastily and lost Belitt's itinerary, so she is not sure if he is in Bennington and is sending this to the Virginia Quarterly to send to him; discussing the state of his notes versus her own; questioning why Mansfield could not survive her illness, especially when she was told it was curable; requesting that he let her know when he wants his books back; concluding "This is really a fightful place to be, a dull faceless town, but I think I may recover here, once for all. It is high time."
