Summary
Expressing his surprise at "...yr Silence & no less am I at Mr. Jackson's neglect, or - call It what you will - / But when a lady's in the Case / You know all other things give place -./ When here, He promis'd much & I dare say meant what He promis'd - We must obey the Times - His, at present are not at his Command - Oh Love! Love's like a -----Queen Mab's Whirligig -- All that said the Picture here commended Mr. Jackson's skill & the strong likeness - but where It is now, or the Painter, 'Neither I nor the Provost nor Fellows can tell' an old saying of a deputy Librarian at Eton, when He knew not the difference betwixt Herodotus & Mother Goose tales;" saying he has been on several visits to Newmarket but they have tired him out; sending him "happy returns of the 6th of November;" reporting that Miss O'Neil had been there and "... delighted all that saw her."
