Notes
Notebook kept by James Ivory in 2000 or 2001. Notebook includes entries related to primarily to The Golden Bowl, including a draft of a letter to Harvey Weinstein written after the Cannes premiere but before the release in the United States. Notes, clippings and added material are laid in throughout.
With a typed label adhered to the pastedown of the upper cover: "The Golden Bowl."
The screenplay for The Golden Bowl was written by Ruth Prawer Jhabvala based on the novel of the same title by Henry James. The film was directed by James Ivory and produced by Ismail Merchant for Merchant Ivory Productions; it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on 14 May 2000 and was released in the United States in 2001.

Each of the thirty-one films he directed for Merchant Ivory Productions is represented in the collection, beginning with the production company's first film, The Householder (1963), and including, among others, The Europeans (1979), A Room with A View (1985), Howards End (1992), The Remains of the Day (1993), The Golden Bowl (2000), and The City of Your Final Destination (2010). The collection also includes two films directed by Ivory's partner, Ismail Merchant (In Custody (1994) and The Mystic Masseur (2002)).
